MAMAL AMRIKAI [MAMAL, THE AMERICAN] (Shapour Gharib, 1975), 90 min.

Story: A famous guy called Mamal Amrikai has his sole purpose to go to the United States. He has a friend who writes to him from the US and encourages him to leave Iran. Mamal makes a living by stealing the wheel frame of the cars and selling them to an Armenian called Serkis. Mamal is able to get a passport with the help of Sirkis. But, since he does not have a good reference, he can't get visa. One day, Mamal steals the car of a woman called Nasrin and he finds in her car an invitation for the US. Mamal returns the car to Nasrin and becomes friend with her. Nasrin's mother becomes Mamal's reference. But, as the friendship between Mamal and Nasrin deepens, she reveals to him that the older woman is really not her mother and she is just after having fun following men around. Mamal becomes upset with Nasrin but out of desperation he takes Nasrin with him to his father's house and introduces her as his fiance. Next day when Mamal wakes up he realizes that Nasrin has left the house. A while later, Mamal decides to go to the US with the older woman but he is arrested in the airport.

MORGH-E HAMSAYEH [THE NEIGHBOR'S CHICKEN] (Mahmood Kushan, 1974), 112 min.

Story: Zhaleh and her brother Ismael are the tenants in a house. Three guys are preparing themselves to propose to Zhaleh: the butcher of the neighborhood, a lecherous man and a university student names Hasan. Zhaleh's brother is in debt and the lecherous man can pay his debt in exchange of marrying his sister. To the suggestion of Hasan, the student, Zhaleh enrages Jamshid, the butcher, to fight the lecherous man, so they can get away in-between and marry with each other. However, when a guy who has been helping Hasan to pay Ismael's debt, suddenly dies, suspicion grows toward Hasan as the culprit. Hasan is arrested but as it turned out he is innocent.

AROOS-E FARANGI [EUROPEAN BRIDE] (Nosratollah Vahdat, 1964), 115 min.

Story: Hossein Tormozi [Hossein the Break] is a taxi driver who, due to poverty, is not able to marry his cousin Mahin. One day, Hossein meets a farangi girl named Maria who has just come to Iran with her sister and her brother-in-law. Hossein takes Maria for walk  and take care of her in his mother's house. Maria becomes interested in Hossein, which leads to Mahin's dissatisfaction and complains. After a while, Maria's family find her  and Maria threatens to suicide unless allowed to marry Hossein. The relation between Maria and Hossein continues but Hossein starts getting agitated by Maria's inappropriate behavior and eventually leaves her to attend the marriage ceremony with Mahin.

DOZD-E SIAHPOOSH [THE BLACK-SUIT THIEF] (Amir Shervan, 1968), 90 min.

Story: Two brothers become separated from each other in childhood. They find each other after a long time as one an agent of law and the other known as the black-suit thief. The two brother face the conflicting feelings of bonding, love, and law. Many events take place after this during which the black-suit thief shows that he will not return to a normal life hence the two brother face off. However, an accident bring them together and the older brother finally succeeds in leaving the adventures of the black-suit thief to the memory of the past.




ALI KONKURI (Masoud Asadollahi, 1973), 107 min.

Story: Jalal-Far is pledged, according to his wife's will) to send his son to the university so he can become a doctor. Ali attend the admission exam for the university for the fifth time and due to his anxiety he is taken to mental hospital. The doctor diagnoses that Ali is becoming mentally unstable due to a lack of love in his life, so he suggests getting Ali a wife. Jalal-Far who also runs a law office of marriage contract happens to find Maliheh -Khanom who has just divorced her husband. Jalal-Far takes Maliheh-Khanom to his house to marry her to himself, but evidently, Maliheh and Ali become interested to each other. But, Jalal-Far opposes their marriage and asks Ali to leave Maliheh for him. Ali and Maliheh escapes from the house and, after some negotiation by the neighbors, and the agreement of Jalal-Far with their marriage, they return home.
